Women's health. How to protect yourself?

January 10, 2020

Knowing the symptoms may help to become aware of the signs of dangerous diseases and to address the doctor on time. A good piece of news for the women: regular examinations at gynecologist allow discovering the disease at the earliest stage, when treatment is the most efficient. Besides, some types of cancer may be prevented with the help of vaccination.

 Types of oncological diseases

 Any cancer, which begins in the reproductive organs of the woman, may be called gynecological.

 The most common is cervical cancer, which is most often diagnosed after 40 years, but even at 20, 30 this diagnosis is now not uncommon. Early diagnosis is possible through regular PAP tests.

 Ovarian cancer develops for a very long time without symptoms, is often diagnosed late and is characterized by high mortality worldwide.

 Endometrial cancer (cancer of the uterus) appears, as a rule, in menopause and is manifested by abnormal bleeding.

 Cancer of the vagina and vulva is rarely diagnosed, regular examinations by a gynecologist help to identify the disease.

 Remember the symptoms

 This is not to say that all women with gynecological cancer have the same symptoms. Nor can it be argued that certain symptoms indicate cancer only. Therefore, it is important to consult with an experienced and attentive doctor so as not to miss a dangerous disease.

 Signs and symptoms, which are often linked to gynecological cancer:

 - unusual bleeding or discharge;

 - pain at the bottom of the stomach;

 - distention;

 - changes in the behaviour of the intestine, constipations;

itching or burning in the external genitalia, discoloration of their skin

 How to protect against the disease?

 As of today there is no efficient prevention for all the types of gynecological cancer. Despite of this, there are recommendations, following which may essentially decrease the risk of the disease or detect it at the initial stage.

 Love your body, listen to its symptoms, pay attention to the unusual symptoms.

 Eat properly, support your healthy weight.

 Avoid smoking.

 Practice safe sex.

 Know the history of diseases in your family and talk about it with the doctors.

 Get vaccinated against the human papillomavirus (HPV).

 Have regular examinations by a gynecologist, and better, go through screenings with a gynecologist.
