Is It Possible to Conduct Combined Oncological Surgeries with a Low-Trauma Method? LISOD Experience Presented by Sergey Baido and Dmitry Golub at a Conference in Kharkov

June 6, 2017 - NEWS

These and other topical issues were discussed by the doctors at the scientific-practical conference "Modern View on the Surgical Treatment of Segmented Intestine Cancer". The medical forum was held on June 3rd in Kharkiv Regional Oncology Centre and gathered more than 150 specialists. Leading LISOD surgeons Sergey Baido and Dmitry Golub also took part in the conference.

As an expert, Sergey Baido moderated the meeting dedicated to the treatment of primary segmented intestinale tumours. Dmitry Golub shared The Israeli Oncology Hospital's experience with fellow colleagues. He made a report discussing "The Laparoscopic Combined Surgeries for Locally Advanced Segmented Intestine Tumours LISOD's Experience".

The experts paid special attention to combined surgeries, in which several organs affected by malignant lesions must be removed at once (for example, if the stomach, small and large intestine and uterus are affected).

Laparoscopic surgeries in these cases in the world are performed extremely rarely because of their highest complexity; they have not yet become a standard.

At the same time, in the Israeli Oncology Hospital, such surgeries are conducted as a standard, which is of great importance for patients. Dmitry Golub discussed this with his colleagues in his report.
