In the new format. The meeting, for which - the future

To stand at the origins is always a very big responsibility. But it is also pride when you see that everything turned out as planned. Oncologist, surgeon, head of the Center for Modern Mammology of LISOD Andrii Zhygulin was one of those who helped put into practice the idea of creating a Central-Eastern European breast cancer surgery consortium. And this week the 1st International Congress and Scientific Workshop of the Consortium took place. The event, which has been waiting for so
long, has happened!

For three days, Budapest (Hungary) became the main capital of Central and Eastern Europe, to which surgeons from other countries arrived. As the organizers of the event noted, the main goal of the conference is to strengthen cooperation between 28 participating countries in the field of oncology, in promoting modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in oncological care. Together, it is much easier to find solutions for improving the situation in health care, focused on the future, but at the same time adapted to the particularities of the regions.

It is well known that in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, medicine has not yet reached the level of economically developed countries. Therefore, the further development of the Eastern European Association will provide an opportunity for professionals to establish active contact with colleagues, will contribute to the evolution of breast cancer surgery due to the development of science and clinical practice. Ultimately, this will provide the best surgical care for patients with breast cancer.

Andrii Valentynovych spoke at the event with a report on the complications of simultaneous reconstruction of the mammary gland after mastectomy. Sometimes the surgery is accompanied by undesirable effects, and every surgeon must know what to do in a given situation. And sharing experience with colleagues, hearing their opinion is very important, because each conference is a kind of “brainstorming” in which new ideas are born and ideal opportunities for further professional growth appear.

The beginning of summer for surgeons of the Center for Modern Mammology of LISOD has become really hot. We hope that in the coming months our specialists will have many more interesting meetings, and we will have many reasons to be proud of their achievements!
